Archipelago International Receives Certificate of Appreciation from Scholars of Sustenance

03 December 2018

Bali, Indonesia, December 2018 – Archipelago International, a leading Indonesia-based hospitality management company, has recently received a Certificate of Appreciation for donating 4.7 tons of food to Scholars of Sustenance (SOS), an international charity that focuses on global food distribution issues.

Solely funded by private donations, Scholars of Sustenance provides local non-profit organizations with cooling trucks, equipment, facilities, and motivated staff to ensure fast and precise delivery of food to communities in need.

Their mission is to help distribute unwanted food supplies from hotels and restaurants to impoverished individuals and local villages, whilst also encouraging a cleaner, greener environment, reduced methane gas emissions and education around sustainability and proper food resourcing.

Director of Operations, Winston Hanes, commented: "Seeing first-hand the good work that SOS does to reduce food waste and redirect it to people who really need it, we were extremely excited to partner with this remarkable non-profit organization. Their professionalism and ease to work with encouraged us to expand our partnership, from just three hotels in Bali alone, to now seven. We look forward to SOS's expansion to other cities in Indonesia, so that we can continue to work closely with them in the future. Archipelago's commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, reducing plastic waste and supporting the local community is strong not only in Bali, but across the Indonesian Archipelago, too."
