(Jakarta, June 4th 2014) - During a press conference held at Archipelago’s recently opened Jakarta flagship hotel, “The Grove Suites by Grand Aston”, Archipelago International, the management company behind such popular hotel labels as Aston, favehotels, Alana, Quest Hotels and Hotel NEO, introduced 11 recently opened hotels and unveiled plans for 70 more set to open within the coming year and a half.

Of the 11 new hotels that the maverick Indonesian hotel operator opened in the first half of this year, highlights include East Nusa Tengara’s biggest and most modern conference hotel to date, the Aston Kupang; the group’s first venture into the ever-popular Gili Islands with the Aston Sunset Beach Resort on Gili Trawangan; the first international standard business hotel in East Java’s new oil boom town, the Aston Bojonegoro City Hotel; Surabaya’s first 3 star Quest Hotel that marks Archipelago’s second cooperation with Surabaya’s Maspion Group; as well as several select service favehotels in cities such as Bogor, Garut, Jakarta and Makassar.

On top of the significant growth already seen in 2014, Archipelago International announced a further 33 hotel projects with a total of 5,102 guest rooms to open by the end of this year, and 37 hotels with a total of 5,700 guest rooms set to welcome guests throughout 2015. In total, Archipelago aims to offer Indonesia’s vastest and most comprehensive hotel network of 150 properties and more than 22,000 guest rooms by the end of next year.

Amongst the 70 new hotel projects, there will be 4 new select service Hotel NEOs and 2 more favehotels set to open in Bali, while 4 large-scale resorts and conference centers under the Aston, Alana, Quest and Harper labels will open in Bogor. In Yogyakarta, Archipelago will open its second Indonesian-based Alana Hotel which will also feature Central Java’s largest conference center. A new designer boutique Hotel NEO will hit Penang in Malaysia, while 6 new hotels in Lombok will mark the advent of larger scale international tourism for Lombok, encouraging its transition into a more popular and sought after tourist destination. Lombok will also see the opening of Archipelago’s most luxurious offering to date, Royal Kamuela Senggigi Resort. With 50 private beachfront pool villas, the five-star resort is already receiving accolades for its outstanding design and landscaping. It is set to open by December this year.

"we are thrilled to share the news on our exciting, upcoming developments over the coming year and a half. Not only do the planned projects illustrate Archipelago International's continued success story, it is also provides testimony to Indonesia's accomplishments despite being a relatively young nation, proving its incredible potential as a leading international and domestic tourism destination. We are extremely proud to be here and we are dedicated to supporting Indonesia's growth." Says Norbert Vas, Archipelago International's VP Sales & Marketing.
